Sanctions - The China Project

EDITORIAL ILLUSTRATIONS
FOR THE CHINA PROJECT
I was commissioned by The China Project to illustrate an article exploring sanctions and economic warfare scenarios between China and the United States.
Editor / art direction: Anthony Tao.
Article author: Dylan Levi King

LEAD ILLUSTRATION
"There is limited clarity on the efficacy of sanctions and, even among well-informed non-specialist observers, no clear idea on how they should be conducted to maximize efficacy."

-- Quote from the article
SKETCH
The lead illustration idea originally belongs to the article author as communicated by the editor. I was happy to bring their vision to life. This sketch took me less than an hour to make.
ADDITIONAL ILLUSTRATIONS
Given the tight deadline, I was given the complete artistic freedom for the additional illustrations. I decided to elaborate on the idea of the lead illustration and expand it.
"The prospective economic war between the United States and China is unlikely to be one-sided, but rather an exchange between two near-peers."

-- Quote from the article
After the lead illustration sketch had been approved, it took me less than 24 hours to complete all three illustrations.
